Photography is how I choose to express myself. I discovered this hobby during the past two years when I became acquainted with it in my graphic arts courses in high school. I have developed photography techniques in the process of having fun taking pictures of what is appealing to my eye. I usually like photographing objects in nature such as flowers and scenery. I also use my photography for other uses. The coffee cup in the top right was used for a poster advertising a coffee house fundraiser. The harmonica was used as a background layout for a brochure promoting a local storyteller. Pictures send messages, which is why I enjoy incorporating my photography into many of my graphic art projects. It is also another way of becoming more connected with the task. I received a Gold Key in the New Hampshire Scholastic Art Competition in January 2007 for my photography portfolio. I entered eight photographs two of which were the coffee cup and harmonica. After competing at the state level, my portfolio went onto the national competition. In the future, I plan to use my photography as a communication tool. |
