I have been a member of the Kennett High School Cross-Country Ski Team for the past four years. I have been captain of this team for the past two years. Cross-Country Skiing has allowed me to appreciate the long cold winters in New Hampshire. This type of recreation keeps the body moving so you are warm even if the air temperature is cold. There is something quite special about getting lost in the woods on a pair of skis, gliding along and enjoying the fresh winter air.

I spend my season racing for Kennett High School and Mt. Washington Nordic Club, a local ski group. Many ski races take place throughout New England each week. I have spent my past three summers ski training to improve my technique for the winter season. My work has lead me to help my team win a combined ski championship for five straight years and has qualified me for the New Hampshire Eastern High School Ski Team (top 25 best high school girl skiers in NH) for the past three years.

I am a member of the Kennett Cross-Country Running Team. In the fall, we compete weekly with other schools throughout New Hampshire. I had the honor of being captain this past fall. Racing is invigorating and has allowed me to see that my body can be capable of the pressure of competition.

I enjoy running long distances because I just get into a rhythm and forget that I am running. Running has always been a source of stress relief. I run with our local running club, the White Mountain Milers, competing in many local races in the spring and summer. I also love running though our Valley’s trails and woods.
